The Low Carbon Economy, founded in October 2006, is a FREE platform designed to facilitate the transition to a low carbon economy by connecting people and businesses with relevant information, solutions and opportunities.

Aug 2007–Present: IT Director

Recruited by managing director (MD) of this continuous research and development project with remit to create from scratch an IT and telecommunications (Telco) infrastructure for a web based platform, overseeing all systems installations. Transformed the development agenda to Agile (SCRUM) environment by defining a .NET build and implementation process, leading, training and mentoring 3 member team.

§   Migrated out-dated legacy systems to newest hardware and Microsoft applications (backup, disaster recovery, virus protection, software update services, network security, remote access, remote services).

§   Implemented bonded ADSL and blackberry enterprise server professional across all business units.

§   Delivered notable cost savings by negotiating purchase and support contract for telephone support with third party vendor.

§   Realised ca. £16k+ savings by registering the organisation as Microsoft partners on the BizSpark programme.

§   Restored group wide customer relationship management (CRM) across 3 companies by incorporating Dynamics CRM 4 into online e-commerce site.

§   Designed self-supporting online platform to help green technology businesses and consumers with the following key on-going development efforts:

ü  Delivered north of £200k net profit within 2 years with the creation of bespoke pay-per-click (PPC) system (used as a statistics only engine) prior to leadership decision to go non-profit.

Oct 2005–Aug 2007: Senior ASP.NET Developer/Team Leader

Initially hired as .NET specialist, challenged to transfer several mission critical databases into new hardware stack at another onsite location. Having successfully averted potential revenue loss due to system downtime, quickly entrusted to manage more complex projects with increased responsibility and leadership, managing an 8 member development team.

§   Influenced core infrastructure design as key member of migration team during Fujitsu’s acquisition of Siemens Business Services, functioning subject matter expert; migrated and integrated 300 user accounts, mailboxes, databases and software to new head office as part of 3 tier email system.

§   Spearheaded full scale legacy system migration of work order management system (WOMS) from planned stages to authoring a best practice migration manual to simplify the user journey; delivered migration 2 hours ahead of time with zero faults.

§   Enabled company to secure multi-million pound contract with a leading UK bank by finishing a development project within 6 short months; as lead designer, produced an automated, Windows based application for order processing and another multi-threaded service solution that monitors mailboxes for client orders.

Dec 2002–Oct 2005: Head of Systems & Technology, VARIOUS COMPANIES

Retained by former MD at Mentor Direct Marketing (upon company liquidation) to project manage a myriad of greenfield projects involving technology and Telco management for 3 of his other businesses.

§   Personally designed and deployed group wide IT and Telco infrastructures, installing and configuring networks, software as well as migrating legacy data to new platform.

§   Developed and launched an online greenfield recruitment website with caching database tier and content management capabilities.

§   Orchestrated complete office migration, replete with new hardware implementations, software updates, network security, backup capabilities and disaster recovery strategies.

2001–2002: Mentor Direct Marketing LTD

Call centre operation offering telemarketing services to various businesses with teams of up to 8 people telephoning targeted companies in the interests of promoting client business.

Jan 2002–Oct 2002: Applications Developer

Promoted after only 3 months to lead the software engineering team on campaign call flow development projects based on keen technical and business insight.

§   Previous to any existing industry software capabilities, pioneered failover broadband connectivity and developed an automated windows update batch via specific user login to ensure network security.

§   Prevented thousands of pounds in lost revenue due to operational downtime by writing a company database recover solution that automatically detected database corruption before an impending crash occurred.

Nov 2001–Jan 2002: Telemarketer

Hired to expand the client base via aggressive telephone lead qualifying whilst promoting business services. Earned reputation as one of the highest lead generators on various technical marketing campaigns.

Aug 2000–Feb 2001: Software Developer, GLOBE ENERGY

Company specialises in industrial space heating, developing industry revolutionising designs and techniques.

Acquired full development lifecycle exposure during final year university dissertation/project holding full accountability for application design, development, roll out and user training.

§   Reduced fuel costs 70% for client and delivered highest customer accolades by designing and benchmarking real time software and temperature heating control system. Facilitated training for heating control user groups.

Aug 1999–Aug 2000: Work Placement Year, BRITISH AIRWAYS (BA), Weight and Balance Office—Heathrow

Served on a 5 member software engineering team tasked with outlining and implementing technology solutions to save on costs and improve efficiency as well as maintain control of empty weight and centre of gravity for all aircraft.

§   Team saved BA thousands per annum, resolved over fuelling issues and increased aircraft flight service times by writing software (still used today) that enabled ground engineers to precisely calculate fuel requirements during engine run testing for each aircraft in BA fleet.

§   Collaboratively architected solution that produced weight & balance certificates for Boeing 737 & 747 fleet.

§   Co-organised rewrite of 737 manual by collaborating with other internal departments and international aircraft manufacturers, integrating changes to original publications and converting documents from A4 to A5.
